Our Wide Bay contingent did our region proud during the recent North Queensland v South Queensland match up at Caboolture Lions new $14 million home in Burpengary.
On a huge ground, measuring approx 165m x 140m, Jaryd Hamilton & Bradley Myles Richards were strong, with Richards in the top 2 or 3 players & loving the expanses of the big ground playing off the wing & on the ball.
Hamilton started as the 2nd ruckman, before being moved forward in the 2nd half & was in the teams best dozen players.
South Queenslands' Manager (& also from AFL Wide Bay), Mark Mason, said the game was a tight contest all day.
"North Queensland got the jump on us early kicking with a slight breeze, but our boys showed a lot of character nearly snatching a victory in the dying minutes of the match.
Noodles (Richards) played well, especially around the clearances he was very strong with quick handballs & earned praise from his peers, while Hamo (Hamilton) was applauded for his attack on the footy from the Coaching staff.
It was a good experience for the boys, to play alongside the likes of Anthony Corrie, who has played for the Brisbane Lions AFL team", Mason said.
