Bilcich and Ferraz Era Ends, Bears Sweep First Week of Regional Carnival

The Basketball South West Regional Carnival kicked off this weekend with games in Busselton and Bunbury.  The Bunbury Basketball Association claimed four titles in as many competitions.

A special occasion in yesterdays U18 girls Regional Carnival as local players Ebony Bilcich and Meg Ferraz competed together in Regionals for the last time.  The two girls boast an impressive record claiming 5 Regional Championships, with their only loss in their first U12 attempt. Bilcich and Ferraz are also the only two girls in their age group that have played every Regional Carnival since Under 12’s. Both players represent the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers in their age group and together were part of the U/16 WABL Championship team in 2013. Meg has also been apart on the Slammers SBL team.  Ferraz has been representing WA Country since U/14’s and this year, both the girls Represented WA Country U/18’s at the Australian Championships in Canberra, and both girls are in the current Western Australia state team.

Congratulations also go out to the U18 Boys Champions, U16 Boys Champions, and U16 Girls Champions from the Bunbury Basketball Association.  The wins made a clean sweep in the first week of Regionals.  In the U16 competition the Bunbury Bears Girls team went a perfect 4-0 while the Bunbury Bears Boys 2 Team went a perfect 6-0.  The U18 Boys team lost one game but won the head to head tie with an early morning win against Busselton 29-28 boasting a 6-1 record overall. 

The Bunbury Basketball Association is proud of the Refs, Players, Managers and Coaches who have represented the Association so well this weekend, and over the years.
