The Norwood Flames have cruised into 3rd, their highest position yet this season by beating last year's premiers Forestville in what could prove to be a pivotal game for their season.
After a mixed start to the season, the Norwood men seem to have found their form at a time when the rest of the league is unsettled and playing out of character.
Norwood played a strong first quarter establishing a 14 point lead at by the first break.
The Eagles managed to slow their progress in the second quarter but the Flames still added 8 points to their margin.
Forestville fought hard in the second half winning both quarters by a point each time and if they had of played with that intensity in the first half this would have been a real heart in your mouth battle. As it happened the Flames defended their buffer and closed the game unruffled and 20 points in the clear.
Pressure in both keys saw accuracy suffer for both sides and delivered some exciting battles on the boards. Norwood had the edge though managing to convert their opportunities to points more often than not.
Norwood's Ian O'Boyle had a hot night shooting 7/13 downtown while Eagle Jake Rios did the heavy lifting for Forestville scoring almost half of his teams points with 42 points to his name.
