Lions Move Into The Top Five
Central Districts Lions (68) defeated North Adelaide Rockets (55)
Central Districts have moved into the top 5 for the first time in 2014 after beating the Rockets in the Lions den on Saturday. The Lions have been bobbing about in the middle of the pack all season while the Rockets have been struggling to lift themselves off the bottom rungs of the ladder.
These teams were evenly matched in most areas of the court but the bravery of the Lions who kept throwing up 3 pointers helped them over the line. Despite sinking less than a third of their attempts they made an extra 33 points over the Rockets from outside the 3 line. When everything else is even-stevens the Lions needed to find a wedge and they did it from downtown while the Rockets seemed reluctant to get out from under the thumb of the Lions zone D and persisted in shooting in the paint. Accuracy on the free throw line was also costly for the Rockets costing them 15 points which could have made all the difference.
The two Kyles, Miller and Williams, led the charge for Centrals scoring 21 and 18 respectively. Standouts for North were Pero Vasiljevic with 13 points and Daniel Goodluck with 12.
