Warriors Back On Top

Eastern Mavericks (39) lost to Woodville Warriors (109)

Woodvilles' convincing defeat of the the Eastern Mavericks this weekend has come in handy for the Warriors returning them to top spot for the 5th time this season.

The visitors went in for the kill early with a hard push from the first whistle. Steve Pilkington and Alexander Starling started pounding out the shots in quick succession for the Warriors before White, Ng, Clark and Graves all chimed in with a 3 pointer per head pushing Woodville's lead to 18 points at the first break.

Things didn't get any easier for the hosts as Woodville's defense suppressed the Mavericks to just 8 points in the second and 6 points in the third quarter. To their credit the Mavericks did not give up, instead they played their strongest quarter last but the Warriors' domination was comprehensive, 30 points from downtown, 33 points off turnover and 48 rebounds tell a fairly one sided story.

Daniel Lean played well for the Mavericks, leading his team with 11 points and 4 assists. Lean was the only player on his team to score double digits, conversely 5 Warriors managed to post double figures. Alexander Starling led the game in scoring (21), rebounds (12), and steals (4).
