Miller Shines In Lions Victory

Central Districts Lions (86) defeated Sturt Sabres (75)

The Central Districts Lions have defeated the visiting Sturt Sabres, 86-75, after a brilliant fourth quarter performance from Kyle Miller at Starplex on Saturday night.

Miller was on fire in the fourth quarter. He knocked down back-to-back triples to break 59-59 tie early in the final quarter and give his team a small lead.

The Lions, inspired by Miller's offensive showcase, turned up the intensity on the defence, forcing the Sabres deep into the shot clock and taking tough, contested shots.

Miller wasn't finished, however, sinking another three to put the Lions up by 10 with three minutes left in the game.

Sturt's Dexter Moore briefly took over scoring a quick five points to cut the lead in half and give his team a chance at stealing the victory.

But Miller responded, he got a tough layup to drop in and converted the and-1 at the line to put the brakes on the Sabres' comeback.

Sturt had fallen behind by double digits earlier in the game, Chris Clausen and Daniel Carlin contributed to a 24-13 advantage for Centrals in the second quarter. Sturt attempted many three pointers but wasn't getting them to go in.

The Sabres came back during the third quarter, rendering the Lions scoreless for the first four minutes on the second half and Moore hit a triple at the end of the third to level the score at 55 at the final break.
The Lion's Kyle Miller stepped in a big way in the final stanza of the match hitting a trio of triples as well as converting a tough and-1 chance to stop the Sabres comeback
