Panthers Pounce at Blockbuster Sunday

South Adelaide women pounced on the opportunity to shine in the Blockbuster Sunday opener, winning their 11th game of the season by 6 points over Woodville.
Mollie McKendrick recorded yet another double-double, knocking up 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Panthers, as she led her team to a much needed win.
South jumped out to a 10-point lead early on, behind Madeline Cunningham’s nine and Mollie McKendrick’s eight first half points. But the Warriors managed to keep the margin in reach, only allowing a 6 point difference at half time.
The match was relatively even throughout, exchanging baskets and building pressure, before a final quarter comeback by Woodville threatened South’s desired result.
Callan Taylor nearly completed the comeback, sinking a vital three-point shot in the final seconds of the game, however fouls shots continued to fall at the opposing end, denying the Warriors from their 13th season win.
Taylor hit 17 points and 9 rebounds for the Warriors and was influential from start to finish.
South Adelaide now faces a must-win game against the Southern Tigers in six days time in order to have a chance of qualifying for the finals.
