Woodville Warriors 79 | Eastern Mavericks 69

In the third game of the Blockbuster Round, the Woodville Warriors won their third game in a row, defeating a strong Eastern Mavericks side by just 10 points. 

The Warriors took control of the game early on through smart usage of easy free-throws and a couple 3-pointers. Their momentum carried over into the second quarter largely thanks to Tavarsha Scott who displayed a lot of strength in her minutes on the court. However, the Mavericks retaliated and found their footing later on through improved ball usage which enabled them to pinch the lead 40-36 heading into half time.

The Warriors quickly took back the lead in the third, mostly by attacking the ball and thanks to the Mavericks giving up several fouls.

Rachel Griffiths (12 points, 3 rebounds) from Woodville opened up the final quarter in strong fashion extending her side’s lead to 18 points at one stage through quick shots. The Mavericks showed their valiant nature by fighting all the way to the final whistle, though Woodville’s dominant third quarter proved to be the deciding factor at the end of the day.

Tavarsha Scott was best on ground for the Warriors with an impressive 37 points, 21 rebounds, while Tess Keenan had 10 assists.

Despite the loss, Tracey Carrington was the leader for the mavericks attaining 28 points, 6 rebounds.
