Round 13 Preview - MEN

Norwood Flames (10-2, 1st) v Forestville Eagles (7-5, 5th)

In the match of the round, the Flames could push the Eagles out of the top five if they are able to get the win at Mars.

The Eagles’ loss to Sturt last round means they are down to fifth spot and are only one game above the sixth placed Bearcats.

The Flames overcame South last round cementing their top two position.

Last time they met, the Flames came from behind to defeat the Eagles 79-71.

North Adelaide Rockets (4-8, 7th) v South Adelaide Panthers (2-10, 8th)

The Rockets’ fading finals hope will be further damaged if they fail to defeat the Panthers at Hillcrest.

The Rockets’ Round 12 setback at Southern was their eighth defeat in nine games. They are now three games behind Forestville for the fifth seed.

Overall, the Panthers are in an even worse position than the Rockets. They are five games back of fifth following their loss to Norwood last round.

Last time they met, the Rockets nipped the Panthers 73-69.

Sturt Sabres (8-4, 4th) v West Adelaide Bearcats (6-6, 6th)

The Sabres can open up a handy gap between themselves and the bottom five if they can overcome the Bearcats at Pasadena.

The Sabres’ Round 12 win over Forestville was notable for the debut of 36ers star Daniel Johnson. Johnson played 28 minutes and scored 21 points.

Following their triumph against Centrals last round the Bearcats are now within one game of the top five.

Last time they met, the Bearcats clawed away in the second half, succeeding 89-64.

Woodville Warriors (9-3, 3rd) v Central District Lions (2-10, 9th)

The Warriors will be looking to continue their impressive run of form when they come up against the Lions at St Clair.

The Warriors have won nine of their last 10 games which includes a road conquest against Eastern last round.

The Lions lost to Sturt last round. They remain just one game ahead of bottom placed Eastern.

Last time they met, the Warriors accounted for the Lions 88-74.

Eastern Mavericks (1-11, 10th) v Southern Tigers (11-1, 1st)

The Mavericks will attempt the upset of the season when they welcome the Tigers to Adelaide Hills.

The bottom ranked Mavericks are coming off a loss to Woodville. They are one game out of eighth and six from fifth.

The ladder leading Tigers comfortably beat North in Round 12. They sit one game ahead of the second seeded Norwood.

Last time they met, the Tigers conquered the Mavericks 94-58.
