Sturt Claims Thriller in Maher’s Coaching Debut

Sturt Sabres (100) defeated Norwood Flames (98)

With a new look line up on and off the court, Sturt showed no teething problems, taking a two-point victory over Norwood in an overtime blockbuster, 100-98.

Sturt suffered an early setback, losing their leading pre-season scorer, Dylan Rawson, to an ankle injury in the first period.

While the Sabres led the match for the first three quarters, a string of three’s from Norwood guard Ian O’Boyle saw the two teams nearly come to blows late in the period.

However, it was new Sturt import Dexter Moore proving too good in over time, giving coach Brett Maher something to smile about in his first game at the helm.
