South Adelaide Women Beat Forestville Away From Home

Forestville Eagles (62) lost to South Adelaide Panthers (82)

The South Adelaide women have registered a first round win after defeating the Forestville Eagles by 20 points at Wayville on Saturday night.

The Panthers were in front all game, taking charge late in the second quarter after a close first quarter. 

The Eagles had a stronger last quarter, scoring 23 points but the Panthers’ lead was just too hard for them to catch.


Teresa Kinross and Janae Howard helped the Panthers to victory, scoring 30 points each; Howard also had 15 rebounds.

Both women did most of their scoring damage in the final quarter.

Teammate Jessica Mahony also had a good game with 10 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds and five steals.

Mahony appeared to hurt her ankle during the second quarter but came back on a few minutes later.

She went on to play a total of 38 minutes game time, while Howard played total game time.

There was more injury concern for the Panthers in the last with Karen Rokicinski winded and Danielle Greaves grabbing her back with only a minute left in the game.

Turnovers were the difference between the two sides, with Forestville recording 28 compared to the Panthers with 13. 

The Panthers also capitalised the Eagles’ mistakes, scoring 22 points from turnovers.

Jess Fergus highest points scorer for the Eagles with 17 point to her name, while Jade Johnson scored 15 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Fergus also recorded eight rebounds, as did Megan Kermond; Kermond scored 11 points as well as collecting two steals.

The Panthers will want to continue their winning momentum when the play the Woodville Warriors at home next Saturday night.

Forestville will make the trip up to Gawler to play the Central District Lions hoping to record their first win of the season.
