Rockets Rally In The Second Half
South Adelaide Panthers (69) lost to North Adelaide Rockets (78)
The Panthers starting five gelled well in the first quarter and they worked in harmony to take every advantage that came there way. Some sloppy passing from the Rockets and tenacity off the boards from the Panthers allowed them to hone in on an early lead and they doubled the Rockets score in the first period.
The Panthers kept the pressure on in the second quarter extending their lead to 10 points before the Rockets led by Jo Hill began to lift their intensity at both ends. Helped by some patchy shooting from the Panthers the Rockets were able to erode the margin down to only 4 points at half time.
The Rockets played their strongest quarter in the third scoring 27 points for the period but strong defense from South made it a battle for North to wrestle the lead away from them. Jo Hill and Jamie Lee Peris went on a rebounding rampage and managed to score 12 unanswered points in 4 minutes taking the lead and pushing it straight out to 10 points in front.
The Panthers fought hard in the final stanza getting as 1 point the difference but the Rockets were able to put their foot down again and pull out to a 9 point win in the end.
Jo Hill had a double double for the Rockets with 28 points and 10 rebounds, she also made 3 steals. Her effort was mirrored by Janae Howard for the Panthers who matched Hills 28 points, Howard made 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.
