Norwood Win Close Contest

Forestville Eagles (64) lost to Norwood Flames (68)
 
The Norwood Flames women have recorded a 4 point win in an on the road thriller against the Forestville Eagles at Wayville on Saturday night.
 
Both sides started well, resulting in a close first quarter, with the Eagles taking a 3 point lead into quarter time. The second quarter matched the first but the Flames were able to pull back the margin to take a one point lead at halftime. Scores were level halfway through the third quarter but the Eagles dominated the second half of the quarter.

The Flames lost Jess Foley late in the quarter with an ankle injury and also coach Simon Pritchard due to two technical team fouls. Those fouls gave Eagle Jess Fergus four free throw opportunities, which she made the most of, doubling their three quarter time lead to eight. Despite being behind at the final break, the Flames started the quarter strongly, to be behind by just 1 point half-way through the quarter. The momentum shift continued in Norwood’s favour, taking the lead in the last minute to win by 4 points.
 
Norwood’s Amy Lewis dominated with a game high 28 points, 11 rebounds and 7 steals. Jessica Good was their next best scorer with 11 points to her name. She also collected 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Elizabeth Keane was handy with 9 points from just 15 minutes of game time.
 
For the Eagles, Jess Fergus was their highest scorer with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Carla Borrego Williams scored 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Tara Robinson was also important under the basket with ten points, 9 rebounds and an assist.
