Women

North Adelaide Rockets (12-4) v West Adelaide Bearcats (8-8)

The in-form Bearcats will be looking to claim another scalp, when they visit the Rockets at Hillcrest.

The Bearcats defeated Woodville by 30 last round, marking a 61 point swing from when the teams last met.

The Rockets were not at their best last weekend, defeating bottom side Centrals by just 11 points, before falling to Eastern.

The Rockets lead the season series 1-0.

Norwood Flames (16-0) v Sturt Sabres (9-7)

Mars has been a happy hunting ground for the Sabres in recent times, and that is where they will be this Saturday, when they take on the Flames in the Match of the Round.

The Sabres defeated the Flames twice at Mars last season. The first occasion was in Round 10, which ended the Flames’ 31 game winning streak. The other time was in the Second Semi Final, which enabled the Sabres to head straight through to the Grand Final, leaving the Flames to be eliminated the following week.

The Sabres had a dismal last weekend of June, losing to two of the bottom sides in Forestville and Centrals. In contrast, the Flames’ latest winning streak grew to 16 games, thanks to a 28 point win over South.

The Flames lead the season series 1-0.

Woodville Warriors (9-7) v Southern Tigers (5-11)

The Tigers will be trying to keep their fading finals hopes alive, when they go up against the Warriors at St Clair.

The Tigers suffered losses to Eastern and Forestville last weekend, two sides whom they had been unbeaten against prior. They are now three games outside the top five, with only six fixtures remaining.

The Warriors’ grip on a double chance has loosened even more, following their loss to West last Saturday.

The Warriors lead the season series 1-0.

Central District Lions (2-14) v South Adelaide Panthers (6-10)

The Lions will attempt to continue their newfound success, when they battle the Panthers at Starplex.

After a competitive loss to North on Saturday, the Lions beat Sturt by 18 the following day. The Lions had lost their previous two games to Sturt by an average of 50 points.

The Panthers suffered their fourth straight loss last weekend, going down to Norwood.

The Panthers lead the season series 1-0.

Forestville Eagles (6-10) v Eastern Mavericks (7-9)

The Eagles and Mavericks earned big results last weekend, and now face a potential season-saving meeting at Wayville.

The Eagles are just two games back from fifth place, following wins over Sturt and Southern in the space of two days. The Eagles had a combined 0-3 record against these teams, prior to last weekend’s results.

The Mavericks are even closer to the top five. They are one game back, after overcoming Southern and North. The Mavericks were likewise 0-3 against their weekends before their crucial wins.

The Mavericks lead the season series 1-0.
