Round 14 Preview - MEN

Sturt Sabres (8-5, 5th) v Woodville Warriors (10-3, 2nd)

The Sabres could drop out of the top five if they fail to beat the Warriors at Pasadena.

Last week, the Sabres had the chance to open up a three game lead over the bottom five but instead their advantage was reduced to a solitary game. The Sabres lost to West for the second time this season.

Contrastingly, the Warriors conquered Centrals for their 10th win in 11 games. The Warriors are up to second, their highest rank of 2016.

Last time they met the Warriors defeated the Sabres 80-63.

North Adelaide Rockets (4-9, 7th) v Norwood Flames (10-3, 3rd)

The Rockets and Flames will look to get back on the winners list when they meet at Hillcrest.

The Rockets' defeat to lowly South last round was their 9th loss in 10 games. The Rockets are still close enough to make a run at the finals, but their form suggests it will be a struggle for them to maintain seventh spot.

The Flames lost to Forestville by a point last week. As a result, they have fallen out of the top two. Two of the Flames' three losses this year have been by two points or fewer.

Last time they met the Flames overcame the Rockets 86-70.

South Adelaide Panthers (3-10, 8th) v West Adelaide Bearcats (7-6, 6th)

The Bearcats will be attempting to build on arguably their most important win of 2016 when they visit the Panthers at Marion.

Last round, the Bearcats beat the Sabres to close the gap on the top five to one game. The Bearcats have won five of six matches against Sturt in the past two seasons with their only loss coming in the first elimination final last year.

Like the Bearcats, the Panthers had a successful Round 14. The Panthers earned just their third win at the expense of North.

Last time they met the Bearcats triumphed over the Panthers 87-66.

Central District Lions (2-11, 9th) v Eastern Mavericks (1-12, 10th)

The Lions take on the Mavericks at Starplex this round in a match that could go a long way to deciding the winner of the wooden spoon.

The Lions' loss to Woodville last week was their 11th defeat in 13 games.

The Mavericks have dropped 12 of 13 following their setback against Southern.

Last time they met the Lions roared past the Mavericks 91-80.

Forestville Eagles (8-5, 4th) v Southern Tigers (12-1, 1st)

In the Match of the Round, the Eagles will be trying to fly past another higher ranked side when they welcome the Tigers to Wayville.

Last week, the Eagles were able to move back up to fourth, and maintain their one game lead over the bottom five, with a thrilling one point win over Norwood.

The Tigers took advantage of the Eagles' victory by dismantling Eastern. The Tigers are now two games clear in first place.

Last time they met the Tigers succeeded against the Eagles 107-88.
