Round 19 Preview - WOMEN

Norwood Flames (16-2, 1st) v Woodville Warriors (7-11, 7th)

The Flames will be guaranteed of the Minor Premiership should they beat the Warriors at Mars.

Last week, the Flames were beaten for just the second time this season, going down to West 77-79. The Warriors also lost a close one, finishing on the wrong side of a 79-83 scoreline against Southern.

In Round 1, the Flames topped the Warriors 60-50. The Flames had a bigger win in Round 10, succeeding 65-34.

 

North Adelaide Rockets (14-4, 2nd) v West Adelaide Bearcats (12-6, 4th)

In the match of the round, the Bearcats will put themselves into serious contention for a top two finish if they can defeat the Rockets at Hillcrest.

The Bearcats caused a boilover last week, triumphing against Norwood by two points. The Rockets were also successful in Round 18, edging Sturt 86-80.

With only two games between them on the ladder, this match could be critical in determining the top five seeding for finals.

In Round 1, the Rockets eclipsed the Bearcats 75-57. The Bearcats turned things around in Round 10 with a 79-63 win.

 

South Adelaide Panthers (2-16, 9th) v Sturt Sabres (10-8, 6th)

If the Sabres are to have any hope of stealing a finals spot they absolutely must top the Panthers at Marion.

The Sabres’ six point loss to North last week has put them on the brink of elimination from the playoff race. The Panthers are coming off one of their better results of the season, losing 52-54 to Eastern.

In Round 1, the Sabres comfortably beat the Panthers 78-55. The gap was a bit smaller in Round 10 when the Sabres won 70-56.

 

Eastern Mavericks (4-14, 8th) v Forestville Eagles (12-6, 5th)

The Eagles will take a step closer to securing a finals berth should they overcome the Mavericks at Adelaide Hills.

The Eagles boosted their percentage in a 117-67 victory over Centrals last week. Elsewhere, the Mavericks earned a rare win, nipping the Panthers by two points.

In Round 1, the Eagles got over the Mavericks 86-76. The Eagles more than doubled their advantage in Round 10, triumphing 78-56.

 

Central District Lions (0-18, 10th) v Southern Tigers (13-5, 3rd)

The Tigers will be virtually guaranteed of a return to the finals if they knock off the Lions at Starplex.

Last round’s 4-point success against Woodville has the Tigers on the brink of a top five finish. The Lions are still yet to win a game following their 50 point setback against Southern.

In Round 1, the Tigers dominated the Lions 101-43. The Tigers got the points again in Round 10 as a result of a Lions forfeit.
