The World 3x3 Game Development

3x3 will sweep the planet, with tournaments and events popping up in all corners of the world, giving basketball novices , casual and elite players as well as future stars the opportunity to play 3x3 basketball.

Our role is to help work towards this objective by providing would-be tournament organisers the tools to do so, while also sharing our expertise and know-how that will facilitate the successful hosting of 3x3 basketball events.

Whether you are a national member federation of FIBA, an established events organiser, a sponsor or any other group or individual wishing to join in on hosting of 3x3 basketball, you have come to the right place.

Our 3x3 Workbook for Organizers outlines all the key requirements for setting up 3x3 events and gathers best practices, providing helpful information and hints.

With so many different versions of the game having co-existing, one of our priorities is harmonising the rules.

The 3x3 Rules of the Game – applicable during the test period and subject to review following the end of the test period and related feedback – have been carefully developed by FIBA to provide a universally played and recognised set of rules and regulations. These include provisions for every type of game or tournament played, from simple pickup games to elite international championships, with – for example – provisions for play with and without a shot-clock. Check out the summary of the different rule sets and download the official scoresheet.

The 3x3 logo is a key element of the FIBA 3x3 brand and implies that the corresponding tournament is part of FIBA 3x3 integrated competition network. Thus a promoter or tournament can ONLY use the 3x3 logo for promotional or advertising purposes of an event if the corresponding competition results are reported to FIBA in a timely manner as described in www.fiba.com/3x3/resultsupload. Feel free to contact 3x3@fiba.com for further information.

The technical and administrative aspects of managing sporting events can be complex and time consuming, but FIBA’s 3x3 competition management tool is designed to keep the hassle to a minimum. This comprehensive competition management software – which allows registration of teams and players, create competition schedules and automatically generate the rankings – has been designed to keep things as simple as possible for the end user.

Getting familiar with the state-of-the-art software will be made easy thanks to specifically tailored webinar – or online training course – which will teach you everything you need to know about our 3x3 competition management solution.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
