Women's Basketball Championship Heading to Christchurch

The New Zealand Home Loans Canterbury Wildcats officialy kick off their 2014 campaign at 11am on Saturday May 3, against the Waitakere Lady Rangers, a team they battled back and forth against last year as Penina Davison and Tessa Boagni each showed why they were receiving interest from overseas colleges. The Wildcats do play against a Junior Tall Fern roster at 7pm on Friday before this - giving the team a chance to start the tournament, without the pressure of having to come out with a win

Next up for the Wildcats is the North Harbour Breeze at 5pm on Saturday, before they close out the tournament with a southern derby match against the Ocean Gold Rush Otago at 9am.

The New Zealand Tall Ferns' Coach - Kennedy Kereama  will also be in attendance, catching up with his hometown friends and family, and keeping a wacthful eye over the next group of female basketballers trying to stake their claim for a spot in teh next Tall Ferns team.

Entry to any of the days competition is only a gold coin donation, with the proceeds being used to help further Women's basketball in Canterbury. Make sure to come along and see some the top level of Women's basketball in New Zealand
