Division 1 Summer Champions decided

Basketball Geelong

CHRISTIAN COLLEGE proved too strong for YMCA in Tuesday night’s Basketball Geelong’s Division 1 men’s summer grand final.

The Eagles, coached by veteran Supercats guard Keith Harrison, had the better of Y 64-52.

It was better news for Y in the women’s decider, with their Cougars roster having too many scoring options for Sharks in their victory.

Coached by Adam Beckworth, YMCA claimed the title 60-46, thanks to 24 points from star Lady Supercat Candice Rogers.

Maddy Taylor also impressed with 17 points, while Big V Lady Supercat Charmain Ferguson finished with nine.

Rebecca Lance paced Sharks' scoring with 15 points, while Georgia Varley had 11.

The Cougars were able to limit the influence of star guard Alex Duck, who finished with just eight points.
