AFL Broken Hill Umpires with the help of their Sponsor Cristal Mining have changed to the new National Umpiring Colours
With the National Body keen to see uniform umpiring colours across Australia, AFL Broken Hill has decided to invest in the new Uniforms and the change was launched for the Anzac Day Double Headers.
Kitting out nearly 30 umpires was no easy task especially when the Hats went missing having been sent to Broken Head!
The new uniform is identical to what you see on TV and is far superior product to the old uniforms the Umpires wore. The fabric is much lighter and the shorts and socks are infinetely better than the old version.
AFL BH "loans" the kits to all junior aged umpires to encouage their involvement, whilst the Adults make a contribution to the cost of the kit along with Cristal Mining and AFL BH.
Pictured is the Umpiring group for game one Central v West which featured 14 year old Jack Burke who ran his first sole A grade Boundary game. Jack's Dad Craig was later in action running the Boundary for game 2 having field umpired a reserves game on the Friday night. Thr third "Burke" is 13 year old Tom who is running Boundary in the junior grades.
Umpires training is Monday nights at 5pm at the Jubilee Oval and new Umpires are always welcome.
