Keith Solomon celebrated his 100th birthday last year and is still going strong and loves to hear all about local footy.
After reading the Barrier Daily Truth article on the financial plight of one of the local Clubs, Centrals, he sent his Daughter Coral Ford to purchase a $50 ticket to help them out!
Only last year his Grandson Dean, who played for Essendon and Fremantle, was back in the Silver City to help Keith celebrate his 100th birthday. In true North style several of the current day players were on hand to share in the special milestone.
Local football in Broken Hill survives on the strength of four Clubs and for too long the CFC has been walking a financial tightrope said AFL BH Chairman Peter Nash. It is imperative that as a Community we solve this probelm as without them, all Clubs are severally impacted. Only last year we had three weeks where a Club forfeited Reserves grade and it wrecks a great day for everyone and also financially impacts the League.
The Back in the Black raffle is limited to 500 tickets @$50 with a $5,000 cash prize. If the Central FC can sell all the tickets they will be debt free which will do wonders for the morale of the Club, who despite winning a flag in 2010 have been struggling since, with dwindling numbers in Auskick and the junior grades.
Tickets can be purchased by emailing Tristan Savage on savmel1@bigpond.com or by his mobile 0412 962 528.
Anyone can pay by direct deposit and then have the ticket sent by SMS or mail....just make sure you include a Name and Mobile in the Notation.

In Broken Hill tickets are also available at Shannons, Vines Furniture1, Sampsons or at the Club.
All Clubs around the states of NSW and SA, that we are affilaited with, could purchase a ticket and be in with the chance of winning the $5,000 said Mr Nash. This raffle will only succed if we reach out to locals from all 4 Clubs, former Central players and supporters who have moved "away" and local and intersate Businesses.
Nash, a former Central Premiership Player and Premiership Coach, is hoping local footy fans, past and present, can take a lead from Keith Solomon's generosity and wisdom and look at the BIG PICTURE! I acknolwedge my potential conflict of interest as Chairman of AFL BH but the real issue is ensuring we have 4 Clubs. Ultimately its the CFC who are running this promotion, I am just making sure everyone understands we need a Community effort to solve their problem.
Mr Nash can be contacted by email at aflbh@bigpond.com or 0427 095 091.
