South Reserves veteran Corey McKenzie bagged 14 goals on Saturday against the Pies. The Roos had a day out against the winless Pies and now progress to the Grand Final in 2 weeks.
36 year old McKenzie is a class player who has a wonderful left leg and playing as a small forward leads all comers in season 2016 with 51 goals for the year, 27 more than his nearest rival and 29 more than teammate Brandon Westley.
McKenzie has played 222 Reserves grade games and 87 senior games and has played in 10 winning Reserves Grand Finals. The Roos have won the last 5 Reserves grade Premierships and are short odds to claim their 6th.
McKenzie's dream game came after a modest return in the previous 5 games that netted only 7 goals.
Just a few weeks ago McKenzie had the thrill of playing with 2 sons Kallum and Tyler whilst younger son Lachlan ran a boundary.
McKenzie also plays an active role assisting the South FC with the junior teams that his sons play in.
A quiet achiver McKenzie is a fiercely competitive player that always gives 100% on game day, and despite not being super fit clearly has a super footy brain and a deadly left leg!
