2016 Bendigo 'Skin, Ski n Surf' Junior Classic

The Bendigo Basketball Association (BBA) is pleased to be hosting the 2016 Bendigo ‘Skin, Ski n Surf’ Junior Basketball Classic on Saturday 23rd, Sunday 24th and Monday 25th January 2016.

Skin, Ski n Surf is the major supporter of the event and has maintained their support for the tournament over a number of years.

The Junior Classic is an annual basketball tournament which has been running since 1978.

The three day basketball tournament attracts teams from across the state of Victoria as well as teams from Mount Gambier in South Australia.

There are 31 Associations represented at the Junior Classic, with teams from Sunbury, Ballarat, Traralgon, Geelong, Mildura, Wodonga and Warrnambool to name a few.

There are 226 teams entered and ready to compete in 24 separate divisions, with A, B, and C divisions offered in most age groups from Under 12s to Under 20s for both boys and girls.

In order to cater for over 600 games, the Junior Classic will utilize 16 courts at 7 venues across Bendigo, including the Bendigo Stadium, Flora Hill Stadium and Girton Grammar.

The Bendigo Bank Junior Braves will be well represented at their home event with a tournament high 21 teams entered, with all teams ready to compete in front of their home crowd.

In all, approximately 7,500 people will be in attendance at the event, which is estimated to bring in around 2.5 million dollars into the City of Greater Bendigo and local economy.

The first game will commence at 9am on Saturday morning with Grand Finals scheduled for Monday afternoon at the Bendigo Stadium.
