Braves Head to Brisbane!

Bendigo Bank Braves have had an excellent start to the South Eastern Australian Basketball League (SEABL) season as they sit on top of the Eastern Conference ladder. Marking the half way point of the season with 10 wins and 3 losses.  This Saturday the Braves will come up against their toughest opponent yet, the Brisbane Spartans, in what promises to be a top of the table clash.

The Braves will travel to Brisbane this weekend in fine form after coming off two impressive wins, defeating rivals Frankston by a staggering 23 points and defeating Mt Gambier in a tough six point win, 69-63.

Damian Johnson has been a key factor for the Braves this season on both offensive and defencive ends, averaging 15.4 points per game and leading the league with an impressive 35 blocks.  Another key contributor to the Braves success this season is star guard Jeremy Kendle, leading the league with an outstanding 317 points.

The Brisbane Spartans currently sit second on the ladder with 8 wins and 5 losses and will be looking to edge their way closer to the top. The Braves will play hard as they look to further advance their position on the road to finals.

The Bendigo Champions IGA Lady Braves will also be travelling to Brisbane this weekend in a hope to secure their seventh win and further advance their shot at finals this season. The Lady Braves have seen a steady start to their season after having lost star centre Elyse Penaluna to a knee injury.

New recruit Chante Black has had an impressive start to her Braves season with an outstanding performance against Frankston last weekend, leading the team to a 13 point win.

The Bendigo Basketball Association wishes the Braves and Lady Braves good luck for this weekend’s game and for the remainder of the season.
