Country Cup Teams successful in New Zealand

Last Monday at the ASB Stadium in Tauranga (NZ) teams representing the Country Cup were successful at the Pacific Rim Championships.

The Cup had 4 teams represented in the Championships - Under 15 Boys and Girls, Under 17 Boys and Girls.

The teams were selected from U14 and U16 players from SA Country and NSW Country who participated at the 2014 Country Cup in January this year.

The results were as follows -

U15 Boys - Bronze Medal
U15 Girls - Gold Medal
U17 Boys - Bronze Medal
U17 Girls - Gold Medal

The tour was not only successful on court for the teams but a great life and cultural experience for the players.
The players are to be congratulated on the way they respected all the teams and officials and on the way they conducted themselves off court as well.

They were all great ambassadors the game and the way they represented Australia.
They are a credit not only to themselves but to their Association, State, The Cup and Australia.
All parents can be justifiably proud as I was in NZ.
The teams were well received by the New Zealand teams as it added to the competition and provided an opportunity to meet and greet with the local players.

The Cup also provided an opportunity for 4 referees (1 from NSW, SA, Vic & Tas) to attend and participate. All four referees acquitted themselves very well and help set the standard of officiating during the Championships.

Thank you and congratulations also to the Coaches and Team Managers whose combined efforts assisted greatly in making the tour a success.

Thank you also to the parents for making it possible for their children to attend and for their co-operation with the administrative arrangements.

AS with last year the Cup Directors will now evaluate the tour as a whole and decide on participation for future years based on feedback from all participants.
