The countdown begins for season 2014 and the AFL Sunshine Coast Development Staff are back into the swing of things, welcoming three new additions to the team.
Three AFL Sportsready Trainees will be based in the office this season all assisting with growing our game on the Sunshine Coast.
Here is a bit of what you need to know about the new trainees as they embark of their journey with AFL Queensland...
Hannah Bridge will be taking the hot-seat in the Sunshine Coast Office as Administrator and will complete a Certificate Three in Business.
Miss Bridge is a local lady who graduated from Chancellor State School last year and has hopped on the Brisbane Lions band-wagon for season 2014.
Being frightened of insects is something Hannah is not afraid to admit and lives by the quote;
‘What does not kill you makes you stronger.’
Hannah idolises her Mum and doesn’t mind the occasional McDonalds meal if nothing better is on offer.
Hannah’s favourite television is Chicago Fire which is also the favourite of the other female trainee, Shannon.
Introducing Shannon Campbell!
Graduating from Maroochydore State High School last year, Shannon has signed up for a Certificate Three in Sport and Recreation which will complement her active lifestyle and recent selection in the Queensland State Under 18 Squad to travel to Canberra in May for the Nationals Championships.
Shannon will no doubt save her hard-earned dollars for another trip to Fiji where she enjoys the friendly people, smoking hot weather and lack of toads – Shannon is not a fan of slimy little species so fingers crossed they don’t ambush her during a NAB AFL Auskick during the year.
Having already brought some baked goods into the office, Shannon is a bit of a guru in the kitchen and loves noodle casserole, which her fellow employees will no doubt sample at some stage during the course of the year.
Shannon is a pretty relaxed person who loves her sports clothing and lives by her favourite quote:
“Hard work beat talent, if talent doesn’t work hard.”
Working hard will be in order for the trainees this season with a target of 2,900 NAB AFL Auskickers as a bench mark, Shannon will be working alongside Nick Lynam, rounding off the three trainees for the region.
Nick hails from St Patricks College in Gympie and as a die-hard Brisbane Lions supporter; he has without a doubt found his niche with the AFL Queensland crew on the Coast.
‘Nicko’ may be scared of moving out of home but with his favourite pair of Vans footwear, bulk chicken supply in the fridge and an idol like Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Sunshine Coast Office will basically feel like a home away from home in no time.
Guilty of using his mobile phone too much (loves a Facebook ‘like’) Nick is inspired by Ghandi and this quote:
“Be the change you want to see.”
Nick, Shannon and Hannah are welcome additions to the Sunshine Coast Office team headed up by Regional Manager Paul Tresise alongside well-rounded Development Coordinator Rohan Briggs and with a new Development Coordinator to be announced shortly.
