The North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) has named a 42-man squad to play the West Australian Football League (WAFL) on Saturday May 24.
The match will be played as a curtain raiser to the GWS Giants vs. Richmond Tigers game at Sydney’s Spotless Stadium.
It will be the first time a combined NEAFL side featuring players from NSW, ACT, QLD and the NT has played a representative clash, a concept that excites Coach Daniel Archer.
"Having one team to represent the entire competition is an exciting prospect," said Archer.
"We have seen really good growth across the NEAFL this year in terms of depth of talent and to have been able to pick the best players from the entire competition is just fantastic.
"We are feeling very positive and will be chasing a very hard earned win."
The former NT Thunder coach said he is not worried that the squad will only meet for the first time as a group on the Thursday before the match.
"We can’t see it as a hindrance, we need to see it as something to be embraced," said Archer.
"We can pick players from across four states which is amazing.
"We can have guys that play football in the style of the Northern Territory, hard bodied guys from Canberra and guys with the class of some of the Sydney and Brisbane players."
Redland have the most representatives in the 42-man squad, with nine players, followed by NT Thunder with eight.
The NEAFL will also travel to Hobart to play the Tasmanian Football League (TFL) on Saturday June 21.
Both matches will be live streamed via www.neafl.com.au
