The 2014 Under 16 Queensland State Academy Championships will be held over four days commencing this Sunday May 11.
Matches will be played at the Moreton Bay Regional Sport Complex – AFL Precinct and the AFL Queensland Training and Administration Centre Yeronga.
Brisbane South, Brisbane North, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, North Queensland and Queensland Diversity teams will compete for the title in a round robin format.
AFL Queensland High Performance Manager Adrian Fletcher said the carnival played an important role in nurturing Queensland’s talented young footballers.
"The championships give our emerging young players the opportunity to show their wares? and get an idea of what it’s like to play at a higher level against good opposition,’ said Fletcher.
A Queensland State Under 16 squad will be chosen at the completion of the carnival to go on to play in the Under 16 National Championships in July.
