AFL Sunshine Coast held its final school carnival for 2014 last Thursday at Fisherman's Road. It was a successful day with 5 schools competing.
Six teams competed in the senior division which included Mountain Creek, Matthew Flinders, Nambour SH, Beerwah SHS and Caloundra SHS. Mountain Creek were pushed by Nambour State High in the pool stage however Nambour were outgunned in the Grand Final. Congratulations to Mountain Creek on winning the senior competition and well done to Nambour High who made their first Grand Final in a few years.
With only three teams competing in the Junior Pool; Mountain Creek State High School, Caloundra State High and Matthew Flinders Anglican College played each other twice. Mountain Creek came out on top being the dominant team all day and thoroughly deserving to go through to the next round. Matthew Flinders and Caloundra State High both played great and overall had an enjoyable day.
We wish both the junior and senior Mountain Creek teams all the best in the next round!
We will be looking to bring the carnival forward next year as the timing isn’t the best for mid-term three. We hope this will entice more schools to be involved and build a greater competition.
Thanks again to all the girls and teachers for their efforts and we look forward to seeing your smiling faces next year.
