Mercy Rule - Coaches Please Note
Where a team is 20 points or more in front the coach of that team is requested to advise all of the players in that team to play defence from the defensive third of the court, ie. behind the green line on the court.
Coaches are asked to take it upon themselves to enforce this rule; however the referee's will enforce it on behalf of the HJBA if the coaches don't.
The only exception to enforcing the Mercy Rule will be where the coach of the team which is 20 points or more behind requests that the rule not be enforced. In this situation the coach may change his/her mind as the game progresses, but once the Mercy Rule is enforced it must stay in place for the remainder of the game whilst a team is 20 points or more in front.
