ILLAWARRA CREDIT UNION DL RD 15 WRAP

Shell Cove FC 4 – 0 Kemblawarra

Shell Cove retained their six point advantage at the top of the ICU table after a comfortable victory over Kemblawarra at Myimbar Park.

The home side led two goals to nil at half time courtesy of Jacob Miller (22’) and Tom Markovski (35’).

Their task was made a little easier with the sending off of Kemblawarra striker Zeyad Maarbani for a poor challenge one minute before the interval.

Three minutes into the second period Miller scored his second of the match before substitute James Petreski rounded off the scoring four minutes from time.

Picton Rangers 5 – 2 Coniston Lions

Picton Rangers lead the chasing pack on 32 points after overcoming a never say die, Coniston Lions at Hume Oval.  Goals for the winners were scored by Ben Roberts (2) with Dale Nicol, Daniel Goodhew and Nicholas Mugridge chipping in with a goal apiece.

Brian Sibanda responded with a brace of his own for the visitors.

Corrimal Rangers 1 – 0 Thirroul FC

Corrimal Rangers (31 points) hold down 3rd spot on the table after a hard fought affair at Memorial Park.

The only goal of the game was scored by Nick Tortorella after 24 minutes and despite losing Paul Guido (Red card for 2 Y/C offences) late in the game, just did enough to claim all three points in the race to catch the league leaders.

Kiama Quarriers 1 – 3 Berkeley Sports

Berkeley Sports 5 – 1 UOWFC (Rd 5)

Berkeley Sports (30 points) have moved up into fourth spot on the table after picking up six points in two games over the weekend.  On Saturday, Berkeley travelled to Kiama Leisure Centre and collected another three points on the back of strong first half performance.

The Quarriers had trouble staying with Berkeley in the opening period with the game virtually out of reach at the interval after Greg Moon (15’), Dylan Evans (43’) and Jarryd King (45’) scored for the Sports.

Kiama never threw the towel in and were rewarded with a goal of their own on 65 minutes from the boot of Isaac Coonerty but Berkeley proved just too strong on the day.

On Sunday, Berkeley welcomed UOW FC to Berkeley Sports Ground and was able to run out comfortable winners to continue their surge up the table.

Dylan Evans (30’) and Tony Paglialunga (38’) gave the home side a first half lead and were able to go on with the job in the second stanza with further goals from Greg Moon (62’89’) and Adam White (72’).  Craig Hood was able to get Uni on the score board with a consolation goal three minutes before time.

Helensburgh Thistle 2 – 4 Warilla Wanderers

The Wanderers (29 points) made the trip north to face the ‘Burgh and came away with all three points after a bruising and entertaining encounter at Rex Jackson Oval.  The opening half produced some great football which produced four goals in a ten minute burst to keep the spectators enthralled.

Luke Greathead opened the scoring on 15 minutes with youngster, James Eldred doubling the score five minutes later.  Jason Welling’s pulled a goal back for the home side on 23 minutes before Warilla struck straight back to regain their two goal advantage three minutes later when new signing, Jonathan Ramos scored on debut.

With the visitors taking a 3-1 lead into the break after the frantic first half it was important that the Burgh needed to respond early in the second period to get back in the game.

A goal, scored by striker Andy Wanden duly arrived four minutes after the interval and it was now game on!

The game continued it’s free flowing mode with both goals mouths under serious attack.

More goals had to come and it was the diminutive, Scott Friedewald who restored what proved to be the match winning margin mid-way through the half.

Any hope the Burgh had of getting something from the game disappeared when they had two players, Luke Van Zyl (72’ – Violent Conduct) and Gareth Brownlee (79’ – Two Yellows) sent from the field to provide Warilla with another numerical advantage.

All in all, a terrific game of football between two committed sides who gave everything in an absorbing match-up.

Balgownie Rangers 0 – 2 Oak Flats Falcons

Oak Flats (29 points) stayed in touch with the challenging group after their visit to Judy Masters Oval.

In a tight encounter there was no score at half time but then Chris Murdzveski scored six minutes after the sides returned to the field to provide the visitors with the advantage.

With both sides throwing everything at each other, it was left to Daniel Petrolo to secure the three points for the Falcons five minutes from time.

Wests Illawarra 2 – 1 UOW FC

In the remaining match to complete Round 15, Wests scored just their second win of the season after the narrowest of wins over UOW FC.

Wests appeared to have a strangle hold on the match when they led two goals to nil at the break after first half goals from Andrew Breslin (21’) and Louis Livieri (36’).

However, Uni fought back strongly after the interval and were unfortunate to get something from the game after Lochlan Ryan pulled a goal back with quarter of an hour to play.
