Match of the Week

Bellambi 4 – 4 Fernhill

A bottom of the table clash produced a thriller of a game as Fernhill came back from three goals down to draw at Elizabeth Park on Saturday. The draw means Bellambi maintain their three point buffer over Fernhill in a competitive race to avoid relegation.

Bellambi started the game well and took an early lead when Michael Baveas found the back of the net in just the 3rd minute of the game. The Rosellas were able to double their lead on the 25th minute through Jacob Fryday but Fernhill’s rangy midfielder, Tobin Zoomers, pulled a goal back just three minutes later. The score remained 2-1 heading into half time.

Bellambi again came out firing after the whistle with Chris Hobbs extending the lead to two goals in the 49th minute before Nathan Sutcliffe stretched the lead even further five minutes later. The game looked lost for Fernhill with 25 minutes remaining and a comeback still looked unlikely when Andrew Keep pulled a goal back for the Foxes in the 65th minute. Zoomers brought his team back within a goal with his second of the match with a 25metre bomb in the 71st minute before Jack Miranda completed the comeback with the equaliser in the 77th minute.

Bellambi have made an impressive turn to their season in the last few rounds, taking five valuable points in their last four games.

The loss meant South Coast slipped out of the top four while Dapto Dandaloo continue to sit one point behind league leaders Bulli.
