Kiama Quarriers 5 – 3 Coniston Lions

 Kiama have prevailed in an eight goal thriller against Coniston Lions at Kiama Leisure Centre on Saturday. A hat-trick from Tim Walsh capped an important win for the Quarriers as they look to push themselves out of the bottom three.

Duane Byrnes opened the scoring in the 23rd minute for Coniston but it was cancelled out just three minutes later when Chris Hill found the net for Kiama. Just before the stroke of half time Tim Walsh popped up to get his first of the game and give Kiama a 2-1 lead heading into half time.

A flurry of goals late in the second half made for an entertaining end to the match. Walsh scored his second in the 67th minute before Brian Sibanda pulled one back for Coniston in the 76th minute. Sibanda went from hero to villain just four minutes later when he unfortunately put the ball into his own net and gifted Kiama a two goal cushion. Walsh made it five for Kiama and wrapped up his hat-trick in the 82nd minute before a late consolation from Byrnes, his second of the match was scored five minutes from time.

Helensburgh Thistle 3 – 3 Kemblawarra

Helensburgh and Kemblawarra played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Rex Jackson Oval on Saturday. All six goals came in the first half of the game with both teams scoring in quick spurts.

Helensburgh came out of the blocks firing with a quick-fire two goals early in the match. Luke van Zyl was first to score in the 8th minute which was quickly followed by a goal from Luke Wyatt just a minute later to make it 2-0. Not to be outdone, Kemblawarra brought a goal back through Damian Jorge in the 31st minute before Simon Havalica tied the game up within a minute of their first.

Kemblawarra hit the lead in the 40th minute through Jayson Atanasoski but it was cancelled out just three minutes later by Helensburgh Rob Oste. A free-flowing first half turned into a tussle for the lead in the second half as neither team could break down the other.

Shell Cove FC 3 – 1 Wests Illawarra

Shell Cove have stretched their unbeaten run to ten games with a 3-1 victory over Wests Illawarra at Myimbarr Park on Saturday.

A tight first half saw the deadlock broken in the 39th minute when Chris Jankulovski found the back of the net for Shell Cove. The score stayed at 1-0 until the half time break.

Tom Markovski grabbed his 9th goal of the season for Shell Cove in the 57th minute as they doubled their lead. Andrew Breslin pulled a goal back for Wests to create some nervy moments for Shell Cove but the win was sealed when Jason Milosevski made it 3-1 in the 73rd minute.

Picton Rangers 1 – 2 Oak Flats Falcons

A top four clash saw Oak Flats run out 2-1 winners over Picton at Hume Oval on Saturday. The win sees three teams tied at 3rd on the ladder with 32 points.

An unfortunate own goal from Dayne Morley gifted the win to Oak Flats with Jason Murdzevski the only other scorer for the Falcons on the day. Picton’s goal was scored by substitute Gary Seymour.

Balgownie Rangers 0 – 2 Warilla Wanderers

Warilla grabbed their third win in as many games with a 2-0 win over Balgownie at Judy Masters Oval on Saturday. Two late goals sealed the win for Wanderers as they now sit tied for 3rd on the ladder with 32 points.

An own goal from Aaron Davis tipped the fixture in Warilla’s favour with just seven minutes of the game remaining. Luke Greathead sealed the win just two minutes later in the 85th to give Wanderers a valuable three points.

Berkeley 0 – 2 Thirroul Thunder

Two second half goals gave Thirroul an important win over Berkeley at Berkeley Sports on Saturday. The result handed Berkeley their first loss in five games as they look to force their way into the top four.

Daniel Bond opened the scoring for Thirroul in the 52nd minute after a stale first half saw neither side able to break the deadlock. Berkeley struggled for an equaliser before Bradley Strudwick put the game to bed with Thirroul’s second in the 84th minute.

UOW FC 0 – 2 Corrimal Rangers

Corrimal were able to push their way clear into second place on the ladder with a 2-0 away win over UOW at Kooloobong Oval on Saturday. Two second half goals gave UOW their fourth consecutive loss as they slipped down into 9th place.

A goalless first half came and went before Timothy Wylie nabbed the game’s first goal in the 60th minute. Boris Surla came off the Corrimal bench to double the lead in the 75th minute and confirm the victory for Rangers.
