DAPTO DANDALOO SETUP BULLI CLASH

Dapto Dandaloo set up an enticing top of the table clash against Bulli this weekend with a 4-2 victory over Tarrawanna at Dandaloo Sports Ground on Sunday.

The Fury were made to work for the win, coming from behind twice in the game before running away with the win in what was the perfect pre-cursor for the match next round.

“We look forward to these games, leading into one like Bulli you want to have hard games like this week in, week out,” said head coach Norm Boardman, speaking after the game.

“They’re a good side and that was a great confidence booster today.”

Down 2-1 at half time, Dapto Dandaloo put in an inspired second half performance to score three unanswered goals.

The Fury have often struggled to find the back of the net in recent weeks and the flurry of goals was pleasing for Boardman as the club fights for the League Championship.

“There was an air of confidence in the change room at half time,” he said.

“In previous weeks we’ve been coming in at half time looking for excuses but this week was much different.

“There’s a good atmosphere about how we’re performing week in, week out.”

Tarrawanna took the lead just three minutes in when Vaughan Patterson drilled a shot from 25 yards out that took an awkward bounce over Fury keeper Mitchell Blowes.

A neat exchange on the edge of the area lead to a well-placed equaliser from Sam Munro but it was undone ten minutes later when Tarrawanna were awarded a contentious penalty in the 21st minute.

Samet Kaynak was on hand to score his third goal in as many matches to give the Blueys a 2-1 lead.

Dapto Dandaloo were awarded a penalty of their own five minutes before half time but captain Alvin Ceccoli was unable to convert from the spot leaving Tarrawanna with the goal advantage at the break.

“We had a game plan that we executed quite well in the first half and in the second half we just switched off mentally,” said Tarrawanna head coach Luke McGuire.

“It was a bad eight or ten minutes there and the game got away from us; apart from that I thought it was pretty even contest.”

Dapto Dandaloo wasted no time in mounting their comeback as David Hartas pulled the sides level with a header just two minutes after the restart.

A goal from Joseph Crowley ten minutes later gave the Fury the lead before Ceccoli made up for the penalty miss with a headed goal of his own to seal the win.

The result breaks a three game win streak for Tarrawanna as they fight to earn a place in this season’s finals.

“I don’t think that was ever going to be a defining game for us, it’s what we do over the next four or five weeks that’s going to determine where we are,” said McGuire.

“We just have to get back to do doing the things we did right over the last few weeks and we should be alright.”
