UOW FC 5 – 1 Balgownie Rangers

UOW snapped a dismal six game losing streak with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Balgownie at Kooloobong Oval on Saturday.

Uni were off to a lightning start when Ross Graham scored in just the 4th minute of the game. Marc Lee pounced three minutes later to make it 2-0 before Anthony Oliver pulled one back for Balgownie in the 11th minute. UOW stretched the lead back to two goals in the 22nd minute as Craig Hood found the back of the net for the teams third. The score remained 3-1 at the end of the first half.

The second half was all UOW as they put the game out of reach for Balgownie. Scott Muilwyk grabbed his first of the game three minutes after the restart before adding a second in the 69th minute to round out the scoring and the win for Uni.

Kemblawarra 2 – 0 Oak Flats Falcons

Kemblawarra forced an upset as they prevailed 2-0 over Oak Flats at Albert Butler Park on Saturday.

Two first half goals was enough for the 10th placed Kemblawarra to see off an Oak Flats side that’s pushing for a finals berth this season. Simon Hvalica struck first in just the 3rd minute of the game for a 1-0 lead. Towards the end of the first half Kemblawarra doubled their lead when Okan Turkmen netted his third goal of the season.

Neither side could find the back of the net in the second half as Kemblawarra ran away with the win.

Shell Cove FC 2 – 0 Helensburgh Thistle

Two goals in quick succession saw Shell Cove claim victory over Helensburgh at Myimbarr Park on Saturday. With results running their way, the win saw Shell Cove extend their lead at the top of the ladder to 10 points.

The first half yielded no goals as neither team could break their opponent down in competitive opening 45 minutes.

It took Shell Cove until the 70th minute to finally make a breakthrough when Jacob Miller pounced on an opportunity to put the ball in the back of the net. Just two minutes later Ile Kostovski grabbed his 10th goal of the season to put the game out of reach for Helensburgh.

Wests Illawarra 1 – 2 Coniston Lions

Coniston earned just their second victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Wests Illawarra at Unanderra Park on Saturday.

Rob Neloski opened the scoring for Coniston in the 19th minute to give his side a 1-0 lead that they would carry until the half time whistle.

The second half saw Wests searching for an equaliser but it was Coniston’s Maurice Aloegninou who popped up in the 64th minute to net his first goal of the season and stretch the Lions lead to two. Wests were able to pull a goal back in the 88th minute through Nathan Puljic but it proved to be too little, too late as Coniston came away with the three points.

Thirroul Thunder 0 – 2 Picton Rangers

Two first half goals was enough for Picton to see off Thirroul at Thomas Gibson Park on Saturday.

Matt Hunt started the scoring for Picton with a strike in the 20th minute before Ben Roberts added a second goal 15 minutes later.

Neither side could find the net in the second half as Picton took another step towards a finals appearance.

Warilla Wanderers 1 – 3 Berkeley

Berkeley secured a vital win in their hunt for the finals with a 3-1 victory over 2nd placed Warilla at Warilla on Saturday.

All four goals were scored in the second half as both sides were unable to break the deadlock during the first 45 minutes.

Tony Paglialunga kicked off the scoring streak with a goal in the 50th minute for a 1-0 Berkeley lead. Warilla drew level 15 minutes later when Jordan Nolan scored his first goal of the season. The 75th minute saw Berkeley retake the lead when Robbie Cull found the back of the net before Paglialunga scored his second in the 78th minute to put the game out of reach for Warilla.

Corrimal Rangers 0 – 2 Kiama Quarriers

A red card (2 yellows 53’) for Corrimal’s Jason Dimovski helped Kiama to an upset at Memorial Park on Saturday.

Isaac Coonerty was on hand to score one of Kiama’s goals while Christopher Christodoulou netted his sixth goal of the season for the Quarriers.
