Warilla Wanderers 0 – 2 Corrimal Rangers

Corrimal Rangers earned a vital 2-0 win over second placed Warilla at King Mickey Park on Saturday. The result means there is just six points separating second and sixth as the race for the finals and second spot on the table hots up as the competition moves into the penultimate round.

Matthew Cuda’s first goal of the season gave Corrimal the lead in the 20th minute in a competitive opening to the game. The visitors struck again just before the half time whistle when Daniel Pisani converted for the important two goal cushion.

Warilla were unable to pull a goal back in the second half as Corrimal held on to score victory and give themselves a chance at finishing second in two weeks’ time.

Berkeley Sports 5 – 0 Balgownie Rangers

With the Wanderers slipping up,Berkeley leaped into second place on the ladder with a crushing 5-0 win over Balgownie at Berkeley on Saturday.

It took time for the team to settle but an Adam White goal in the 22nd minute broke the deadlock for Berkeley and they never looked back. White added another, his tenth of the season, in the 34th minute to ensure the home side took a two goal lead into the half time break.

Tony Paglialunga also netted his tenth goal of the season shortly after the restart before Greg Moon made it 4-0 in the 55th minute. Paglialunga scored again in the final minute of the game to cap the win for Berkeley.

Oak Flats Falcons 2 – 0 Thirroul Thunder  

Oak Flats kept themselves within touching distance of a finals place with a win over Thirroul at Keith Bond Oval on Saturday. Alexander Bausch scored a second half brace on the day to give the Falcons the win.

Neither side could break the deadlock in the first half as the two teams in sixth and seventh respectively went at it.

It wasn’t until midway through the second half that Bausch was able to open the scoring in the game with a fine long range effort in the 62nd minute. Bausch grabbed his second in the 78th minute to wrap up the important win for Oak Flats.

Coniston Lions 0 – 4 UOW FC

UOW’s good form continued with a convincing win over Coniston at JJ Kelly Park on Saturday. Uni have now won three of their last four as they come together at the end of the season.

The visitors hit the lead early when their stand out performer this season, Scott Muilwyk, scored his 10th goal of the season with just eight minutes played. The early strike proved to be the only goal of the first half as they entered the break with a 1-0 lead.

UOW wasted no time in the second half when Ross Graham scored just a minute after the restart. Lochlainn Ryan added another in the 68th minute before Scott Mawbey wrapped up the scoring in the final minute of the game. A red card to Uni’s Grant Newman late in the second half put a dampener on the win.

Kemblawarra 0 – 1 Wests Illawarra

A solitary goal in the second half was enough for Wests Illawarra to defeat Kemblawarra at Albert Butler Park on Saturday.

Both sides struggled, failing to convert their chances as they remained locked at 0-0 when the half time whistle blew.

The second half looked to be shaping up similar to the first but in the 58th minute Nikola Rusic was able to hit the back of the net with his first goal of the season. It proved to be enough on the day as Wests held out for the win.

Kiama Quarriers 2 – 0 Shell Cove FC

Kiama handed Shell Cove their second loss of the season with a win over the League Champions at Kiama on Saturday. With the League Championship wrapped up last weekend, Shell Cove had the liberty of resting players as they look towards the finals.

Kiama’s Chris Christodoulou opened the scoring for in the 13th minute to give the Quarriers an early 1-0 lead. The one goal buffer held until the half time whistle as Kiama held steady.

The second half shaped up much like the first with another Christodoulou strike in the 70th minute stretching Kiama’s lead to two goals. Shell Cove’s Ile Kostovski picked up a second yellow in the 80th minute and was shown red to further disappoint the visitors. However, the sides were evened out two minutes later when Keegan Beringer was given his marching orders as well to slightly taint the big win for Kiama.

Picton Rangers 4 – 0 Helensburgh Thistle

Picton Rangers maintained their fourth place on the ladder with a convincing win over Helensburgh at Hume Oval on Saturday.

Goals from Ben Realph, Dayne Morley and substitute Jordan Hooke combined with Benjamin Roberts’ 14th goal of the season gave Rangers victory on the day.
