Grand Final Division 4 - Tarrawanna vs Woonona
Full time score Tarrawanna 3 Woonona 1

The last game of the season came down to Tarrawanna who finished first in the competition come up against Woonona who finished third. This Division had previously been the Over 30's so it was great to see so many players in that age group playing in the Grand Final.
Tarrawanna started the game a little more strongly and along with the territorial advantage tested the Woonona keeper out a number of times in the early stages.

After the intial 10 minutes, Woonona began to assert their influence a little more with some strong runs down the right hand side by their number 9, Dana Fensom however shots their shots went astray.

Tarrawanna in the meantime seemed most likely to score initially with a cracking shot from outside the 18 yard box by their number 18 Belinda Barter sailing just to the right of goal, then a short time later a corner bouncing off the post.

Just short of half time a low shot on goal by Barter eluded the sprawling Woonona keeper and saw Tarrawanna go into half time with a 1-0 lead.

Both teams started the second half strongly with chances at both ends. Tarrawanna delivering a well worked corner which Woonona capitalised on with a quick break and a goal denied only through a last ditch tackle from the Tarrawanna defence.

Woonona equalised midway through the second half when another good run by Fensom split two defenders who set the ball into the back of the net.

Two minutes later, Tarrawanna were unlucky not to get their second when the Woonona keeper came off the line only to have the ball eventually cleared off the line by the defence.

In the last five minutes of the game, Tarrawanna put the game out of Woonona's reach with a second goal through another well worked corner and a third to Rachel Suttle from a shot from out on the right.

Congratulations to both teams on a successful season and an entertaining match. Player of the Grand Final was Woonona's centre back Maree Lea who was constantly in action through the match.

Full time score Helensburgh 3 -Corrimal 2

There was an enthusiastic start to the Grand Final with both keepers called into action within the first 2 minutes.

The earliest opportunity fell to Helensburgh who were unable to capitalise on a point blank opportunity following a goal keeping fumble.  They were rewarded however a few minutes later when a mix up in the Corrimal defence seemed destined to result in an own goal but for Helensburgh's number 9, Sarah Bell getting a last minute touch on the ball and being able to claim the goal.

The Helensburgh girls took full advantage of their speed with many quick breaks especially by their number 7 Erin Blackwell and were nearly in again two minutes after their first goal only to have the ball cleared off the goal line by the Corrimal defence.

Corrimal' s best chances came in the 20th minute when the ball found an unmarked player in front of goal but they were unable to capitalise. However, a well taken penalty by their number 10, Alyssa Layland couple of minutes later saw them equalise at 1:1.

With 10 minutes remaining in the half Helensburgh had their second goal compliments to Andrea Blackwell and retained the 2:1 lead into the half time break.

Helensburgh's number 6, Alana Humphries scored early in the second half and to the bemusement of spectators was nearly taken out by herown team's enthusiastic celebrations.
A second goal to Corrimal’s number 10, Alyssa Layland following a fine run saw them reduce the deficit to 3:2 midway through the half.

With the unseasonably warm conditions, the tempo of the game inevitably slowed in the second half with Helensburgh eventually taking it out 3:2.

The player of the match was awarded to the Corrimal Goal Keeper, Kylie Layland who despite a number of physical encounters stayed strong and kept her team in the match.

Full time score Shellharbour 1 Fernhill 4

This game was a matchup between competition leaders Shellharbour and runner up Fernhill.
With both teams having their credentials on display for a step up to Division 1 next season, this shaped up to be a very exciting fixture.

Fernhill were supported by a small but very vocal cheer squad whose stamina never wavered.

Fernhill's intentions were made clear early with a well-directed ball in from the right finding the feet of Shenae Giraldi who had her team 1 nil up within 2 minutes.

Only a minute later and before the first goal could be written up, a solid header by Fernhill's number 4, Jade Thompson had them in the lead by 2 and many wondering where the score line might finish up.

Despite the early setback, Shellharbour settled into the game and began enjoying some decent possession. Despite some quality corner and free kicks they were unable to get onto the scoreboard, going into the sheds 2:0 down.

Fernhill started the second half the way they started the first with an early goal to number 13 Veronica Da Silva.

Despite being 3:0 down, Shellharbour kept the fight going with their number 10 Hayleigh Fisher and 6 Teagan Smith playing strongly. They were nearly rewarded mid way through the second half however their shot was high following a fumble by the Fernhill keeper.

The game was placed further out of Shellharbour's grasp when Shenae Giraldi scored a quality one touch goal taking the score to 4:0.

Shellharbour picked up the tempo in the last ten minutes spurred on by a cracking goal to number 15 Rebecca Sparks and showing what they are truly capable of. However despite Shellharbour finishing strongly and chances to both teams the game finished 4:1to Fernhill.

Phyllis Knight Player of the match awarded to Fernhill's Kendall Williams.
