METRO FAR SOUTH GIRLS UPDATE

Metro Far South Under 12 Girls

Sometimes the competition ladder is not a true indication of the success of a team.

Metro Far South Under 12 girls were a very successful team.

This group of young ladies played excellent football in all matches.

They never gave in, all ways playing great football and trying their best.

Right to the last kick of the ball after 5 grueling days and 8 games they scored the winner against the runners up country champions with 10 seconds left to play.

With 6 girls being invited to trial for Football NSW Academy, proves how successful this team was.

The players were always very professional in all that they did, from warm ups, to playing games and to recovery after games.

Sutherland and Illawarra clubs can be proud of the players that they are producing. The development of these young ladies is a testament to that.

A big thank you to Joe Seco assistant coach, Kaitlyn Nicholson manager, Jeff Stewart and John Whiddett convenors. A special BIG THANK YOU also goes to Brianna Callaghan for all her help before and during the tournament.

With the parents, grandparents, siblings and friends support the players could not have had a better platform to perform the way they did.

The playing roster is:

Stephanie Bratjanscak, Tamara Brydon, Torah Christie, Bethan Cowly, Keira Danes, Tayla Garifalakas, Elvie Howell, Lani McAuliffe, Breanna Mccormack, Kaitlyn McDonald, Holly Mills, Ebony Montgomery, Bianca Radman, Alyssa Schwereb, Isabelle Slack-Smith and Jasmin Lawler.

Metro Far South Coast Under 14 Girls

This Season, the U14 Girls Metro Far South Squad participated in the 2015 State Titles in Mudgee.

The tournament was a positive experience and an opportunity that all selected players will remember. Given the limited time the team spent together prior to the tournament, they did very well to come together as a cohesive unit from the first match.

Each player adapted very well to the challenges each match laid before them which greatly contributed to the quality and enjoyment of football played.

The team produced some memorable performances with one of many highlights being the defeat of the eventual champions of the tournament by 3 -0 and after the 8 matches played in 5 days the team only conceded 3 goals.

I would like to acknowledge and thank all players, parents, convenors (John Whiddett and Jeff Stewart), assistant coach (Geoff Wilson) and manager (Kaitlyn Nicholson) for their support in my coaching such a talented group of players.  It has been a pleasure to be part of such an enjoyable and successful experience.

I wish all the players the very best as these talented, young women continue along their football pathway.

Congratulations: Mikaylee Air; Ashlee Brydon; Sophie Callaghan; Savannah Clift; Lara Dipple; Jasmine Flood; Emily Fraser; Lily Hart; Zoe Hart; Jasmine Limon; Jade Lockton; Sophie Macalpine; Tully McEvoy; Jess Meads; Melody Nelson; and Chantelle Symes.

Metro Far South Under 16 Girls - Champions

The Girls U16 State Titles were recently held over 3 days 22nd September to 24th September at Football NSW’s Valentine Sports Park.

The girls played 5 games, winning all 5 ,scoring 24 goals with 2 against to be crowned NSW U16 State Champions. The girls were coached by Allan Sheldrick from Football South Coast Girls SAP /Academies etc and Sutherland U17 Girls and who will also be coaching the Illawarra Stingrays U13’s in the 2016 season.

A big compliment to all when CEO of Football NSW Eddie Moore said how impressive the team was not only in finding the back of the net but also in the way they played during the tournament as it is exactly what FNSW are looking for.

The Stingrays players Olivia Mavridis and Danika Matos shared the golden boot scoring 8 goals each. Rebecca Hutton was the coaches player of the tournament. Kya Stewart the squads sole goalkeeper and a co-captain while Ashley Kotevski was one of the younger players but showed great versatility throughout, covering positions in defence, midfield and attack equally well.

Congratulations to all the girls from the Illawarra region and Stingrays.
