CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS - U16 BOYS

Port Kembla too strong for Castle Hill

The Football South Coast boys from Port Kembla were simply too strong for their Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association counterparts Castle Hill United in the 2015 Puma Champion of Champions 16 Boys final.

Port Kembla proved the dominant side in a rather one-sided contest, despite the best efforts of Castle Hill, which enjoyed some good periods of play but not on a consistent enough basis to trouble the opposition.

Set-pieces proved Castle Hill’s kryptonite early on, as Port Kembla shot to a 2-0 lead in the opening 25 minutes courtesy of two stunning finishes from dead ball situations.

The first came through a towering header from Rene Vescio who did well to lose his marker and rose highest to nod home at the near post after just eight minutes.

By the 25th minute it was 2-0 thanks to a stunning half-volley on the turn from James Pallone after Port Kembla had won another free kick out wide.

Port Kembla was not short of chances to go even further ahead for the remainder of the half but failed to score from some very good opportunities.

With the score stuck at 2-0 at half-time, Castle Hill United was not out of the game by any means and United would return from the break a much better side.

With greater possession, thanks to some solid work from Luke Armstrong and Chase Stewart, United looked to trouble Port Kembla but failed to create many chances of note.

At the other end, Port Kembla was quick to add to its tally when Emmanuel Kamara made it 3-0 just 10 minutes into the second half.

As the game reached a predictable conclusion, Emanuel Hondroudakis won a deserved penalty as his dazzling footwork finally got the better of the Castle Hill defence, and he made no mistake in converting the penalty to seal the win and the title for his side.
