Womens Competitions Preview

Football South Coast women's Competition preview

After some preseason reshuffling and negotiation, the competition has finally settled with 40 teams including U21 and O 30 across 4 divisions.

All games in Round 1 will commence with a minute silence in memory of Thirroul player Mel Bond who recently lost her life in a car accident. Our thoughts are with Mels family, friends and fellow players at this sad time.

In Division 1 the teams to look out for this season will be Wollongong Olympic who have been on a steady rise over recent seasons, Tarrawanna who have made some astute signings and Albion Park who have already held the trophy a number of times. The match of this round is looking like Thirroul vs Woonona which should be a fairly even tussle.

Coming from a club with traditionally strong juniors, the team to look out for in Division 2 will be Thirroul U21's. Meanwhile Wests Illawarra and Albion Park face off in a solid match up in the match of the round.

Division 3 welcomes new team Dandaloo. This is a young and exciting outfit and if the preseason is anything to go by, we will be keen to see how they go. Dandy will feature in the match of the round when they take on Helensburgh W3.

Another young team, Kiama U 21's will be the team to watch in Division 4 which also features a number of O30 teams. The match of the round will be Wollongong Olympic vs Helensburgh.

Best of luck to all teams on Sunday, let's hope the weather holds off.
