Football NSW’s State Dinner was held on Saturday night at the Novotel Sydney Norwest Grand Ballroom in what was a fantastic celebration of community football.

State Award winners are nominated by their Association in recognition of their tireless efforts and service to football in their local community. State Awards formally recognise individuals who have provided consistent and valuable service at any level – Club, Association, Branch or State. These contributions may include services such as: committee member, coach, manager, match official, canteen manager or grounds person.

Football South Coast Association is pleased to congratulate David Swan who was the 2016 recipient of the FNSW State Award.  Here is a summary of David’s journey in football:

Achievements and Summary –

• David began his junior soccer career with Corrimal in the mid 1960’s retiring as a player in the mid 1980’s. David’s younger brother John also played with Corrimal and their father Barry was a part of the Corrimal committee
• In 1995 David joined the Committee of Corrimal Juniors and held positions of Committee Member, Vice President and President in the period 2000 to 2006 whilst he coached and managed teams whilst his children were playing
• David was awarded a Life Membership of Corrimal Juniors in in 2001
• During Dave‘s time as president at Corrimal he oversaw the re-location and re-building of clubhouses, the integration and sharing of facilities with the Corrimal Rangers Football Club and the Junior clubs contribution to the installation of lighting at Memorial Park
• David became involved with the Illawarra Junior Football Association and held positions of Judiciary Chairman, GPT Chairman
• David is now a member and Deputy Head of the Football South Coast Junior Football Council
• David in 2016, was also awarded FSC Life Membership in 2016 as endorsed by all junior clubs in the Illawarra
