GIRLS CONFERENCE LEAGUE TRIALS

Football South Coast (FSC) has been accepted into the Football NSW Girls Conference League for 2018 giving more local female footballers the opportunity to play representative football.

The Conference League includes teams in the Girls U14, U15, and U17 age groups.  This is an extension of current FSC Girls Only programs (Skill Acquisition Program) which has also expanded from U10 and U12 squads, to U10, U11, U12 and U13 squads for 2018.

“The Girls Conference League is a great next step for representative football for our female players providing them an opportunity to develop into better players and progress even further.  In 2018 players from our Association Youth League were selected for State Titles, and we would like to see many of our local female players also getting this opportunity through the focus on junior development and the quality of coaching FSC continues to provide”, said Jonathan Forster, Technical Director of Football South Coast.

The Conference League teams will be coached by highly accredited and experienced coaches and the program will be overseen by FSC Technical Director, Jonathan Forster (AFC/FFA Advanced A Licence).

Coaches of the Conference League teams will be:

  • U14 – Daniel Naumovski (AFC/FFA Advanced Youth C Licence)
  • U15 - Michael Southwell - AFC/FFA Advanced Youth C Licence)
  • U17 -  Peter Dohnt (AFC/FFA Advanced Youth C Licence)

The Girls Conference League, like SAP will be full time and players will train three times a week and play matches against Blacktown City FC, Camden Tigers FC, Dunbar Rovers FC, Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC, Pagewood Botany FC, Parramatta FC and Rockdale City Suns FC.

The introduction of this program by FNSW highlights the need to offer girls an opportunity to step up from Club football and into a professional coaching environment.

“FSC has almost 13,000 registered footballers, with 25% of these players female.  With the growth of female football and the success of the Matilda’s, this program provides a great opportunity for female footballers to play at a higher level and represent our association and region" said Ann-Marie Balliana, CEO and MD of Football South Coast.
