SEEKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Football South Coast (FSC), based in the Illawarra, has close to 13,000 registered players and is currently seeking an expression of interest for two (2) members to form the FSC Referee Development Committee. The RDC, in conjunction with the FSC Referee Council is primarily responsible for the development, assessment and mentoring of the current active referee membership.

A key component of this role is to ensure open communication and transparency on the strategic objectives of the RDC and reporting on the status of these through to the Board of FSC.

REPORTS TO: The Head of the RDC

Primary Accountabilities and Duties

  • Maintain a list of all referee officials, past and present
  • Implement and drive a referee talent identification program
  • Review and approve assessments conducted by the assessors. The RDC is to determine the next steps for the referee being assessed and ensure this is documented.
  • Work with relevant FSC Football Councils and the Referee Council to ensure there is a documented pathway for referees.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly referee member meetings or Referee Council meetings – present as required
  • Work closely with assessors and mentors to achieve RDC objectives and initiatives
  • Organise training sessions and courses as required in conjunction with the FSC Referee Coach
  • Work with the FSC office on any administration matters
  • Develop and drive the development and retention of referees in conjunction with the FSC Referee Council
  • Participate in the yearly planning and evaluation process of the RDC
  • Review all assessments and ensure the documentation is filed with FSC for record keeping purposes

 

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years refereeing experience (desirably a senior / local premiership level)
  • Must be a non-active referee
  • Must be available to attend monthly meetings.

Preferred but not Essential Competencies

  • Achieved at least level 3 assessor requirements with the desire to reach level 2. Must be willing to obtain Level 3 assessors qualification within 6 months
  • Achieved at least level 3 instructor requirements 2. Must be willing to obtain Level 3 instructors qualification within 6 months
  • Demonstrated experience in sporting administration with a keen interest in football and knowledge of local competitions
  • Experience in Education and Development
  • Proven record in stakeholder engagement and management with the ability to develop relationships further
  • Excellent presentation, report writing and communication skills
  • Adaptable to change

Days

As required with attendance at:

  • Minimum of monthly RDC meetings
  • Attendance at FSC Referee Council Meetings where required
  • Attendance at referee general meeting education sessions.
  • Attendance at scheduled referee courses
