FSC REPORTER TO DON THE MO

Movember has kicked off for its 16th year with Football South Coast reporter Dylan Arvela getting involved for a worthy cause.

The Movember Foundation's tagline is "stopping men dying too young," and they focus on numerous men's health issue including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

Dylan explained how he is getting involved after an event which left the Illawarra footballing family in mourning early this year.

"Suicide has become the leading cause of death in men between the ages of 15 and 44 - the exact demographic I spend the majority of my time covering," he said.

"The brutal realities of suicide rocked the Illawarra footballing community in 2018 with the death of 20-year-old Port Kembla footballer Justin Cario.

"The statistics will tragically show that Justin is one of over 2,000 young men to die of suicide in Australia this year and that is why action needs to be taken."

Over the course of November, Dylan is aiming to raise over $1,000 for the Movember Foundation who hope to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030. Dylan will be growing a moustache and running 60km over the month for the 60 men who die of suicide around the world each and every hour.

In addition to Dylan's efforts, Team Juzo has also been set up by some of Justin Cario's closest friends with a collective goal of $1,000.

We implore you to generously support this excellent cause.
