Fury show Western Lions no mercy

Kemblawarra Fury showed their talent in a dominant 10-0 victory over the Western Lions in their first FFA Cup match played on Saturday at Albert Butler Memorial Park, Kemblawarra.

Kemblawarra Fury dominated the entire game but the Western Lions were still in the match at half time with a Kemblawarra Fury 2-Western Lions 0 scoreline.

Well timed passing and powerful shots saw Kemblawarra Fury draw away in the second half to a 10-0 victory at the final whistle with Ryan Suttle scoring a hat trick and Shane Lyons and Sang Ho Lee both scoring two goals.

Despite the final scoreline, it was Western Lions who had the first chance to score in the opening minute of the match with Blake Mancia taking an unsuccessful shot at goal from the right hand side of the field.

Kemblawarra Fury hit back straight away with a chance at goal by Shane Lyons which too was unsuccessful.

Western Lions best chance at goal came in the 12th minute with a shot from Daniel Cornett but a desperate dive from Kemblawarra Fury’s David Poiera saved the shot.

The first goal of the match finally came after numerous chances from both sides in the 23rd minute. Kemblawarra Fury’s Harrison Brown crossed the ball in from the sidelines to Shane Lyon who neatly finished past the goal keeper for the Kemblawarra Fury’s opener.

Two minutes later, Kemblawarra Fury were in again with another cross from the sidelines, this time from Fabian Iacovelli to Harrison Brown who finished well.

Kemblawarra Fury 2- Western Lions 0.

The momentum had totally swung Kemblawarra Fury’s way and in the minutes leading up to half time, they had five more attempts at goal which were proved fruitless.

The half time score remained Kemblawarra Fury 2- Western Lions 0.

The second half saw Kemblawarra Fury press home the advantage and Western Lions were unable to respond.

Kemblawarra’s scoring spree began in the 54th minute after Fabion Iacovelli crossed the ball to Sang Ho Lee who drove his shot into the right hand side of the goal.

Kemblawarra Fury’s Robbie Shields scored the team’s next goal as a result of a cross from Alvin Ceccoli. This was immediately followed by another goal two minutes later by Shields from directly in front of the goals.

As the flood gates opened, a shot in front of the goal also gave Shane Lyons his second goal of the match. At this stage, Kemblawarra Fury led Western Lions 6-0.

Another goal to Kemblawarra Fury’s Nicolo Sama in the 65th minute soon took the score to 7-0.

A wicked cross from the left from Harrison Brown found Robbie Shields who finished with aplomb to bring up his hat-trick.

Western Lions’ only chance of the second half came courtesy of a shot by Daniel Embleton on 76’ which was comfortably saved by Poiera.

After skillfully evading three Western Lions players, new signing Sang Ho Lee scored his second goal of the match at the same time showing that he will be one to watch this year.

Some good positioning and passing enabled David Hartas to drive his shot past the hapless O’Connor who was having a torrid time of it giving Kemblawarra Fury its final goal.

Kemblawarra Fury’s win will take them to the next round and an encounter with Kissing Point FC.
