Corrimal thump hapless Wests

It took all of nine minutes for Corrimal to put their first away, with Mark Picciolini chesting down an aerial through ball and volleying on his left, beating Wests keeper Jordan Timpano at his near post for the opener. Corrimal continued to dominate early proceedings, with Luke Picciolini attempting an audacious chip from 20 yards after a long ball and Timpano being slightly off his line, however it drifted just wide of the left upright. Domenic Magill had an open header from the penalty spot glide left, and M. Picciolini tried to finesse into the far post from the left pocket, but it was deflected wide.
The early departure of Magill to injury saw Save Treneski introduced into the game, and from there his direct play made Corrimal only look more dangerous.
After half an hour, Wests finally had a sniff at goal, with space opening for a 25 yard half-volley for Jake Bailey, however it hooped just wide of the left upright. Two minutes later, they got their reward. A free-kick on halfway was allowed to bounce over the Corrimal backline, with Nick Tortorella sliding a first-time cross low across the face of goal for Daniel Djukic to tap in unopposed and bring scores level.
However this really seemed to wake Corrimal up, and within 5 minutes could've had another three on the board. Treneski had a shot through traffic saved by Timpano, with a scrum of 4 players converging on the loose ball seeing it poked out by a Wests boot. Treneski again nearly orchestrated Corrimal's second, playing in an early cross which Timpano punched clear for L. Picciolini to attempt a chip from outside the box only to drift wide. Treneski then went himself, turning one player in the box, faking a shot to bypass a second and then coolly slotting into the left side netting to return Corrimal to the lead.
Lorri Mandredi escaped the offside trap to play a late cross in, punched clear by Timpano, with Christian Plakias having a shot cleared off the line by Paul Burleigh. On the stroke of halftime, Corrimal grabbed a third, with Mandredi again beating the offside, crossing low for a flaired backheel flick from M. Picciolini beating both his marker and keeper from close range.
Only four minutes into the second period, Corrimal set the tone for what would be a long second half for Wests, with Mendredi smashing home a sitting ball inside the box from a failed clearance, bulging the roof netting from 8 yards. Seven minutes after Corrimal's fourth, they had a fifth to boot, with Treneski gifted an open run straight at goal and sneaking a shot under Timpano.
Minute after minute, play after play, it was all Corrimal. M. Picciolini shot straight into his marker inside the box, then struck the side netting with a sweet volley, Plakias played a cross behind M. Picciolini from 4 yards out, L. Picciolini headed over unmarked in the area, and substitute Chris Stevanovski had his first touches dribbling at goal, only to have a shot well saved by Timpano away to his left. Treneski continued to pop his head up in all the right places, emphatically banging home into the roof netting for 6-1 on 76 minutes.
Wests thought they had a reply in the 80th minute, with Djukic throwing himself at a cross, only for an acrobatic save away to Corrimal keeper Mitchell Blowes' right denying the impressive effort.
However Corrimal returned to business in the 84th minute, with a break down the left wing drawn back to Gavin O'Brien, who cannoned a 20 yard drive into the left upright and flying into the opposite side of the goal for their seventh.  M. Picciolini then capped off a memorable afternoon minutes from time with an uncontested chest in the area after a defensive misjudgement of a cross, bulging the left side of the goal for 8-1.
