Women's Division 1 - Round 3 Review

Round 3 saw a couple of one sides games and Albion Park start to assert their authority on the competition.

In the match of the round, Albion Park didn't quite have it all their own way as Woonona pushed them hard throughout the match. The reliable Brittany Ring getting on the scoresheet again this week with Madison Wunsch also scoring for the home side in a 2-0 win in the top of the table clash.

Jessica Hanly was heavily involved in the match and was perhaps the standout player with Brittany Ring constantly menacing the Woonona defence with her skill and pace. Woonona's Jordan Wheatley tried ever so hard however it was not enough as her side suffered their first defeat of the season.

Albion Park play Balgownie this week whilst Woonona will be looking to bounce back as they travel to Helensburgh.

Wollongong Olympic made light work of a disappointing Helensburgh who just couldn't get themselves in the game. Sophie Lederer is having a great start to her season as she bagged a hatrick in a player of the match performance. Alexandra Scobie and Emilia Skopal both managed to score a brace  with Sophie Soles and Stephanie Stier-Bebhardt also scoring a goal each in their 9-0 demolision.

It doesn't get any easier this week for Helensburgh as they host Woonona who are smarting from their last up loss. Wollongong Olympic take on Port Kembla this week in a game they surely fancy themselves to keep touch with Albion Park.

Tarrawanna showed no mercy to neighbours Balgownie in their Round 3 match pounding them 10-0. It was a depleted Balgownie side that too the field but the experience and quality of the Tarra ladies shone right from the opening minutes.

Courtney Collins scored a hatrick with Camille Augustyn and Kahlia Muilwyk getting two each. Leah Carlon, Kerry Matthews and Jasmine Pearce also helped themselves to goals. The win puts Tarrawanna in second spot (on goal difference).

Tarrawanna do however play rivals Thirroul this week in what should be a cracker of a game. Balgownie will be hoping they put on a better performance as they host a red hot Albion Park side.

In the remaining game, Thirroul edged out Port Kembla 2-1 in a tight contest. No game details were made available to FSC at time of report.

Thirroul have a tough game against Tarrawanna whilst Port Kembla will have another tough game against Wollongong Olympic.
