Women's Division 1 - Round 4 Review

It was an unusual round of games in the Women's Division one last week with each of the four losing teams held scoreless. Albion Park still lead the competition although Tarrawanna and Woonona are hot on their heels.
Woonona soundly beat bottom team a slightly depleted Helensburgh 6-0 last week with Fiona Leafe helping herself to a hat-trick. The consistent Ebony Fraser also bagged a double with Jordan Wheatley once again finding the net in a game where Woonona was never really threatened. Woonona now take on Port Kembla this week whilst Helensburgh host fellow competition strugglers Balgownie in a game where someone will pick up their first points of the season.

In another one sided affair, Albion Park showed little mercy in thumping Balgownie 7-0 to stay on tip of the table. Goal scoring machine Brittany Ring helped herself to four goals with fellow striker Shakiah Tungai scoring two. Balgownie managed an own goal to round of the scoring in what was a miserable afternoon for Bally. Albion Park will find the going a whole lot tougher as they take on Tarrawanna this weekend in an important clash for both sides.

Speaking of Tarrawanna, the ladies picked up a valuable three points in a hard-fought 2-0 win over rivals Thirroul over the weekend. Kahlia Muilwyk scored the decisive goal with Thirroul unfortuntately putting one past their own keeper. Muilwyk though was intrumental in their win and keeps Tarrawanna on the heels of Albion Park. Helena Dorczak also had a strong game for Tarrawanna whilst veteran Toni Dobbs was probably Thirroul's best player on the day.

In the other match, Port Kembla beat Wollongong Olympic 3-0 in somewhat of a surprise. Olympic just weren't able to match Port Kembla's enthusiasm and efficient finishing on the day. Port Kembla will be hoping to make it back to back wins as they take on Woonona whilst Wollongong Olympic also have a difficult assigment when they travel to Thirroul.
