COMMMUNITY LEAGUE GRAND FINALS PREVIEW

RMB LAWYERS COMMUNITY LEAGUE GRAND FINAL PREVIEW

All matches Saturday 15 September @ Macedonia Park, Berkeley.

Division 1 (First Grade)

Dandaloo v Cringila Stallions – Division 1 First Grade – Kick off 6.00pm

Dandaloo finished the season in 2nd spot, one point behind the Uni Wolves AFC Maroon side who were eliminated from the finals series. They easily have the best attack in the competition. 82 goals in an 18 round competition is some performance. Lachlan Blayney has been paramount to this performance with 33 goals netted in the season. Cringila will have their work cut out stopping him from getting one in the big dance. The Stallions made the big scalp last weekend when they defeated the league champions on penalties. After finishing third they will be the outsiders in this match. Orcun As has been the danger man for them this season with 11 goals and will be looking to add to his tally in this one. In the two previous fixtures this season there have been a total of 15 goals scored, with Dandaloo winning one and a deadlock in the other. This match is sure to be a mouth-watering encounter for all involved.

Division 1 (Second Grade)

Cringila Stallions v Dandaloo – Division 1 Second Grade – Kick off 3.45pm

Not a lot of variety in the first two grades with the same sides kicking off in corresponding fixtures. The main difference in this one being that the Stallions will be red-hot favourites to take out the match. After scoring 76 goals in the regular season, Cringila have failed to lose any of their games this season, an impressive feat. After 18 matches there was a 16 point difference between the sides on the table with Dandaloo finishing third. This is all the more reason for Dandaloo to go into this one with relatively no pressure on them to perform. The man to watch for Cringila will be Robert Brown, who has netted 32 times for the Stallions in 2018. It must be noted that Cringila have shared the goal scoring responsibilities quite well, with 15 different players finding the net. As for Dandaloo, I feel as though Jordan Everson could be a game changer. In previous fixtures Cringila have won once and the other match ended in a draw. Cringila would be the short-priced favourites but football is a funny game at times.

Division 2 (First Grade)

Albion Park Cows v Vale Banter Pups – Division 2 First Grade – Kick off 11.30am

The Albion Park Cows finished the season with just a singular loss to their name. That loss came against the side they will be playing off against on the final day of the season. Both sides have had relatively strong campaigns. Vale Banter Pups finished with 34 points in 3rd position as they ended the possibility of an all Albion Park affair as they knocked out the City Razorbacks in the Preliminary Final last weekend. The player to watch for the Cows will be Tony Morgan who has 20 goals to his name this term. With 11 different scorers for the Banter Pups, there are a variety of potential scorers. Maxwell Talbot will be looking to add to his tally this year in the biggest day of the season. The Cows have to be favourites but you would be brave to count out the Vale in this one.

Division 2 (Second Grade)

Vale Banter Pups v Albion Park City Razorbacks – Division 2 Second Grade – Kick off 9.30am

It is 2nd versus 4th as the Razorbacks will be looking to get their first win over Vale Banter Pups this season. The previous fixtures finished 3-2 and 4-3 respectively in favour of the Pups. The Razorbacks are true outsiders in this one as they snuck into the finals and finished 18 points behind League Champions Hogs FC. Matthew Vandy has been in fine form for the Pups, netting on 26 occasions this season. As for the Razorbacks, Mathew Chilcot has been the prolific scorer, netting 25 times throughout the season. With previous fixtures being high-scoring affairs, and the fact that this is the final match of the season, expect a hell for leather type affair where the crowd will be off their seats for most parts of the match.

MASTERS

Kiama Quarriers vs Woonona Red 10:00 am Kick Off - Macedonia Park 2

RMB Lawyers Community League Masters Division 5:

Kiama will face-up to Woonona in the grand final of the RMB Lawyers Community League Masters Division 5. Kiama have had a phenomenal season dropping just two points all campaign handing them the minor premiership. A key influencer to their success has been Daniel Pridham who has netted 19 goals. This consequently means that he sits top of the goalscoring charts for the division including 3 goals against Woonona in the only two games he has played. Their opponents Woonona finished runners-up to Kiama in the regular season amounting to a total of 42 points, 16 points behind Kiama. The writing would seem to be on the wall for this one with Kiama having prevailed in all but one of the two sides encounters this season scoring on average, 3.8 goals per game against Woonona. However, Woonona are the only team this season to take a point off Kiama and in the last game between the sides, Kiama only narrowly got up 2-1. This game has proven to be high scoring with 19 goals in the four matches this season so it could be expected to be a similar case on Saturday.

Fernhill IFS vs Fernhill FC 12:00 pm Kick Off - Macedonia Park 2

RMB Lawyers Community League Masters Division 4:

Fernhill IFS took out the minor premiership with 49 points, 11 points in front of their opponents. IFS had previously had an impressive record winning 2 of the last 3 keeping clean sheets in all 3 games. Most recently, however, IFS went down 3-0 to FC in the first round of the finals. Which could be a concern heading into this weekend’s game. Travis Machan has netted 21 goals this season and will be one to watch on Saturday having contributed 3 goals in 3 games against FC. Fernhill FC’s Gary Pruks has scored 12 goals this season including a goal against IFS in their recent semi-final encounter. Both sides will be gunning for the victory in this one and Fernhill FC’s 3-0 win in the semi-final will give them the confidence to do it again this weekend.

Groundhogs vs GPR Super Hoops 2:15 pm Kick Off - Macedonia Park 2

RMB Lawyers Community League Master Division 3:

Groundhogs finished 2nd in the regular season with GPR taking out the top spot. Andrew Meade has been in fine for Groundhogs netting more than one goal on four occasions this season. He will need to be at his best if Groundhogs want a chance at taking out the free-scoring GPR who have scored 73 goals this season. Groundhogs did get the better of the sides in their last meeting but only courtesy of a penalty shoot-out. This sets up what should be hotly contested match-up.

Port Puma Masters vs South Coast United 4:15 pm Kick Off - Macedonia Park 2

RMB Lawyers Community League Masters Division 2:

South Coast United finished the season unbeaten with just four points dropped all season. They also managed an incredible total 113 goals scored mostly by Shane Crampton who contributed just over 40% of those goals at a rate of 2.3 goals per game. Port Puma on the other hand modestly only scored 79 goals in the regular season and Tony Paglialunga has only averaged just the one goal a game. With both sides being such high scorers it was inevitable that games between the sides would be high scoring, on average there are 7 goals per game when the two sides meet. This has all the makings of a great encounter between the two top sides in the division.

Bulli Masters vs Sweat Hogs 1:45 pm Kick Off - Macedonia Park 1

RMB Lawyers Community League Masters Division 1:

Bulli finished the regular season just a solitary point behind their opponents. Ben Smith has been in fantastic goalscoring form netting 26 goals so far this season including three goals in four games against Sweat Hogs. Sweat Hogs have lost all but one of their played out games against Bulli including a 2-0 defeat in the semi-final. These sides were only separated by a single goal during the regular season and have had tight games throughout their meetings which means this weekend’s game should provide a great show.
