FSC FFA CUP ROUND 3 PREVIEW

Match 20 - Woy Woy FC vs Gerringong Breakers FC

@ Pluim Park 12 pm Saturday 16 March

In one of two matches already played in round three, Football South Coast’s newest club Gerringong Breakers travelled to the Central Coast to take on Woy Woy FC and they managed to come away with a 2-1 win.

Trent Butler scored the only goal for Woy Woy while Rob Franks and Josh Woods scored the goals Gerringong needed to progress through to the fourth round.

Match 21 - IFS Community Wolves vs Stanmore Hawks

@ Lakelands Oval 7 pm Wednesday 27 Match

Community League outfit IFS Community Wolves take on NPL 3 side Stanmore Hawks in the local side’s first competitive hitout of 2019. Stanmore have played one match in the NPL 3 so far (a 1-1 draw with Inter Lions) and they were recently in the Illawarra to play a trial against Cringila Lions which they won 4-1.

IFS, who finished second last in the Illawarra third tier in 2018, will need to squeeze out every drop of their home advantage if they are to cause a massive upset in their first ever FFA Cup match.

Match 23 - Coledale Waves vs Budgewoi FC

@ St James Park 3 pm Saturday 30 March

Coledale return the FFA Cup after becoming the first every Community League side to compete in the competition last year. They will play Budgewoi FC who sit between Gosford and Newcastle on the states Central Coast.

The Budgies came third in Central Coast Football’s second tier last season but the Waves will hope playing out of St James Park for the first time in this competition with help them edge into the fourth round.

Match 24 - South Coast Flame vs Fernhill Foxes

@ Ian McLennan Park 6.30 pm Wednesday 27 March

Match 24 is a local affair with State League club South Coast Flame hosting Illawarra Premier League side Fernhill after the latter progressed to the third round courtesy of a 7-1 win over Bankstown RSL Dragons.

Flame will be coming into this match on the back of their round one match at home to Western Condors while Fernhill will also be a week into their season as they host Woonona four days prior. 

Match 27 - Wollongong United vs Old Barker FC

@ TBC

Wollongong United are likely to host their third round match against Old Barker FC after beating Fairfield Bulls 3-0 in round two.

Old Barker play with the Northern Football FA in Sydney’s Northern Suburbs.

Match 41 - Wollongong Olympic vs Randwick City FC

@ PCYC 3 pm Sunday 24 March

Wollongong Olympic kick off their Illawarra Premier League season a day before they welcome Randwick City to the PCYC.

Randwick compete within Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs FA structure and they have previous in the Illawarra as they were knocked out by the Albion Park White Eagles in last year’s competition.

Match 44 - Albion Park City vs Coniston

@ Ian McLennan Park 8.15 pm Wednesday 19 March

Football South Coast sides Albion Park City and Coniston will go at it under the lights at Ian McLennan Park with the designated home side going into the match at long odds despite former Socceroos captain Craig Foster set to be in their starting eleven.

The match comes three days before Coniston begin their Illawarra Premier League campaign. Interestingly enough, this is Coniston’s third overall match in the FFA Cup and they are yet to face a side from outside Football South Coast.

Match 46 - Blacktown Workers FC vs Woonona

@ H E Laybutt Reserve 7.30 pm Wednesday 27 March

Illawarra Premier League side Woonona Sharks travel to H E Laybutt Reserve to face Blacktown & Districts Soccer FA outfit Blacktown Workers.

This match falls between Woonona’s between round one and round two fixtures as it does for the Workers who are in their local second division competition.

Match 52 - Wyoming FC vs Bulli

@ Pluim Park 7.30 pm Wednesday 27 March

Bulli trek up to Pluim Park to take on Central Coast second division side Wyoming FC - the junior club of Central Coast Mariners skipper Matt Simon.

Bulli have a strong record in the FFA Cup having made deep runs into the tournament on numerous occasions and despite the tough midweek travel and the match coming in between their first Illawarra Premier League games, Matt Bailey’s side will be expected to progress through to round four.

Match 53 - Tarrawanna Blueys  vs North Sydney United FC

@ Cawley Park 7.30 pm Tuesday 26 March

Tarrawanna came within a match of the national draw in 2018 and will be looking to progress to the fourth round with a win over North Sydney United at Cawley Park in Russell Vale.

North Sydney compete in the Northern Suburbs FA Premier League having won the competition as recently as 2016.

Match 57 - Killarney District SC vs Albion Park White Eagles

@ Pluim Park 7.30pm Wednesday 27 March

Like Bulli, Albion Park White Eagles have a tough midweek trip up to the Central Coast where they will face the region’s number one side in Killarney District who have a strong record in the FFA Cup having beaten then NPL 2 side Mt Druitt Town Rangers back in 2016.

The match comes three days after the White Eagles Illawarra Premier League opener away to Port Kembla. 

Match 58 - University vs Gladesville Ravens

@ Ian McLennan Park 8.30 pm Wednesday 27 March

University will at Ian McLennan Park for their round three tie against Gladesville Ravens who play in the Gladesville Hornsby FA.

This is the Students first time in the FFA Cup and they reached this stage after a 4-3 win over Leeton United at the same venue.
